Intermediate Wright-Style Leaded Panel

Learn the leaded panel method of stained glass by making a small panel reminiscent of Frank Lloyd Wright's style (approx. 9" W x 15" H). This course is designed for those with some experience cutting glass and soldering. If you're a total beginner, we recommend that you try one of our glass fusing classes prior to taking an intermediate course. In this class, you will have use of all tools needed for the project, as well as supplies such as lead, zinc cane, flux, solder and practice glass. There is an additional $15 fee for glass for your project, which you'll be able to select at the start of class. We will have glass available to choose from in colors, clears, and textures, or you may bring your own!

In this class you will:

• learn about tools used for a leaded panel
• learn how to cut glass using practice glass (provided). Most pieces in this class will require cutting straight lines with a straight edge. We will show you how to do this to minimize glass wastage.
• prepare pattern pieces (patterns provided)
• cut glass to a pattern
• grind glass
• lay out glass on pattern
• cut lead came
• solder your panel
• clean your finished panel
• receive one-on-one individualized attention from your instructor
• be surrounded by other creative people!

Class size is limited to 6 people, ensuring a high level of attention. We require 3 to run the class.

This class is taught by Ligonier artist Mandy Sirofchuck. Check out her work in our Gallery showroom! Mandy has been working in stained glass since 1984 and is experienced in the copper foil (Tiffany) methods, leaded glass, and fused glass.

Please wear closed-toed shoes for class, and bring eye protection (goggles) if you do not wear glasses. We have eye protection available if you do not have your own.

All classes are held at Main Exhibit Gallery's fully accessible art center, located in the lower level rear of the gallery. Follow Grant Street along the side of our building until you see our patio and sculpture garden, with our studio entrance. Please do not come to the front entrance of the gallery. Free parking is available in front of the building or in our parking area off Grant Street!
