Perfect beginners wheel class that includes demonstration and hands-on instruction.

In the six sessions, Amy will cover centering on the wheel and basic throwing techniques: how to make cups, bowls and other vessels, how to alter thrown pieces, and make and attach handles. Those with limited wheel experience will also benefit from review of techniques. This is strictly a beginner pottery wheel class. Slab work will not be explored in this class. After session 5, all pots will be bisque fired. The sixth session will cover basic glazing of your pots and work will be glaze fired.

Registration includes the use of all clay tools, one bisque firing and one glaze firing, including glaze. We provide 25 lbs of clay for $18. Classes are limited to 6 students, ensuring a high level of individual attention, and are reserved on a first-paid basis.

Payment is due with registration unless other arrangements are made. If you do not wish to pay online with a credit card, you may pay with check or cash at Main Exhibit Gallery, 301 W. Main Street, Ligonier. You cannot register online if paying with check or cash. If you cancel the week before class starts up until the day before, we will issue a refund ONLY IF WE CAN FILL YOUR SPACE.

The cost is $220 ($195 for early registration) for six sessions of wheel and one glazing session plus $18 per 25 lbs of clay, which is yours to keep. Leftover clay is to be taken home on glazing day, or it becomes part of the studio. We provide cone 4-6 glazes from Standard Ceramics, however you are free to purchase your own for your use if you require special colors.
